We Are AmaranthineCraft!
When we were roommates after college in 1994, we didn’t have cable and we didn’t have an antenna, we had an old Betamax player and a box of tapes. We weathered many a sub-zero Vermont winter storm together, watching recorded 80’s TV, feeding the wood stove and crafting, Gwyn mostly beading, Larissa mostly stitching.
Life took us to opposite coasts for many years, but even during those years apart we shared our
projects, often crafting during phone calls and eventually the occasional Skype session.
Now that we’re adults (ACK!) with all kinds of responsibilities (and children) we both miss the hours
spent crafting in front of cheesy media.
We both love old things; the lines, the quality craftsmanship, the way items were built to last and
included aesthetically pleasing details, because beauty matters. We find intense fulfillment from
finding a dusty old object, cleaning and fixing it up to give it new life and new purpose. That
satisfaction is multiplied when we share that item knowing you will love it too!
We have owned resale shops online and brick and mortar, and while many of our circumstances
have changed, our love of the business hasn’t. We have prowled antique and thrift shops all over
the United States. Over the years we’ve developed the keen eyes to recognize potential in a pile of
cast-offs, the skills to do the minor repairs and cleaning to refurbish items to new beauty.
AmaranthineCraft was born out of our desire to use these skills we’ve spent years acquiring in a
way that will let us spend more time with each other, more time with our families and more time
making our world beautiful in the ways the we love. We are a mom-run business attempting to stay
true to ourselves and our ideals, while bringing you actual real value.
We also LOVE to see what you are making, please send pictures of your creations to post and
inspire others! If you need us, we’ll be hanging out with the kids, watching a movie and making
things.
